Rockwall County District Courts
District courts are the trial courts of general jurisdiction of Texas.
District courts have original jurisdiction in all felony criminal cases, divorce cases, cases involving title to land, election contest cases, civil matters in which the amount in controversy (the amount of money or damages involved) is $200 or more, and any matters in which jurisdiction is not placed in another trial court.
Rockwall County has two District Courts, the 382nd and the 439th.
382nd District Court
The 382nd District Court is a general jurisdiction trial court presiding over felony criminal trials as well as civil trials including family law and juvenile cases. In addition, the court presides over cases filed by the Texas Department of Regulatory Services (CPS cases).
